ALL ABOUT
Every type of surface has it's pros and cons. Concrete block paving is a cost effective and attractive material that's used for driveways, paths, patios and even roads. A few years ago, residential driveways came to the attention of the authorities over rising concern about flooding. Legislation was introduced in 2008 requiring householders to seek planning permission for any type of impermeable paving over 5 square metres. This was because conversion of gardens to parking areas in urban neighbourhoods increased the amount of water run off to storm drains, contributing to more instances of flooding.
Permeable paving lets water drain through the structure, allowing for a controlled release into the local built environment. You may have heard about SuDS requirements...a complex subject in itself; rest assured Armstrong's Permeable Paving Systems are fully compliant so we can go ahead & build any block paved driveway without planning hassles.
With over 30 years experience as surfacing contractors in the North East, we're able to lay all types of paving with skill and confidence. We've replaced or laid flagstones, setts, cobblestones, concrete clay & natural stone blocks, brick paving, you name it we've seen it. For block paving driveways, paths and patios, we have a minimum of 11 different types of brick to choose from in over 63 colours. All blocks are manufactured to the highest British Standard and guaranteed with regard to 'strength of pavior' for 25 years. (EN:1338:2003)

If you're wanting to renovate your driveway path or patio, you've come to the right page. Properly installed block paving not only looks stylish, it's robust & rock solid, consistent in layout and durable too. There's a brick style to suit anyone's driveway ideas, from cost effective concrete to premium clay or natural stone. Labour represents around 70% of the cost of a block paving job, so it's important to choose a contractor who's experienced & not afraid to price for doing the work properly. Remember, ' if you buy cheap you buy twice!' There are numerous tales from people all over the UK who thought they were getting a bargain drive; it looked amazing the day it was finished, but left them with that 'sinking feeling' a few months later. Poorly prepared sub bases are an area where less scrupulous 'driveway contractors' cut corners. This will quickly lead to ruts, gaps and movement, & will be expensive to put right. So do something TODAY your future self will thank you for. Take the first step towards a good looking driveway, professionally installed by a reputable contractor.
